What a fun ice cream cake smash session it was to celebrate Julianne’s first birthday! Birthdays and cake smash photography is one of our favorites and we love to capture that ONE big celebration for babies and their parents. Cake smashes in our Bergen County, NJ photography studio is the ideal setting for a one-of-a-kind session.
It seems like only yesterday that we were meeting Julianne at our her newborn session. That wasn’t the first time we photographed the M family. Big sister, Gianna, began her photography journey with us for her newborn session. Both sisters were part of our Baby Plan, which meant we got to document three big milestones in their first year. Our Baby Plan – Baby’s First Year – provides clients with the newborn session, a sitter session and then the final, First Birthday & Smash session.
Unfortunately, due to the craziness of 2020 and Covid, we were unable to photography Julianne for her 7 month sitter session. So, we knew that the first year photos would be extra important and momentous.
Mom chose an Ice Cream Smash set, loaded with pastel colors and simple ice cream touches. Nothing too flashy and just the right amount of sweet! How fun is that cake! Of course, it wasn’t an ice cream cake, but the design surely screamed Ice Cream! We loved the cone effect on top and the confetti sprinkles surrounding the bottom. It made the whole Ice Cream Cake Smash set come together perfectly!
Prior to starting the smash part of the session, we did a few outdoor photos with a garden like setting (PS- this is the garden center downstairs from our studio). It’s the perfect spot for getting a fresh floral feel, without having to travel very far!
Gianna and Julianne had matching dresses from Zara. Mom also jumped into a few shots and shared some great smiles with the girls. Gianna definitely knows her way in front of a camera lens. She rocked her best and cutes smile and was filled with a ton of personality.
We love these ages and as unpredictable as babies and toddlers can be, it’s always so much fun to capture their personalities!
Here’s the inside scoop on this sweet, sweet session.
