Milestone photography in Northern NJ is a great way to capture those in between moments with your baby. Even in just a few short months from when you baby is born, they change so much! Time doesn’t slow down and seemingly accelerates when you have a child. On or around the seven month mark, most babies are beginning to sit up on their own and are no longer in need of a quick hand or a propped up pillow to hold them up. This age is also when personalities really begin to develop, thus making this session and milestone one of our very favorites to capture.

We first met Alexis and her husband Harley back in April for their maternity session. At that point, we had not yet moved to our new Midland Park studio, so her session was at our previous location in Allendale, NJ.  It was there that we got to know more about mom and dad, their likes and dislikes and of course, how excited they both were to meet their baby girl. Alexis was due at the end of May so we knew that by the time her newborn session happened, we would already be settled in to our new studio. Their daughter would also be one of the first newborns to be photographed in the new space!

Arabella arrived right around her due date and about two weeks later we were introduced to Harley and Alexis’ little beauty. She was such a peanut and totally cooperative for her session. She had the most perfect skin and the sweetest little pout- she defined, picture perfect!

Sweet newborn girl

At eight months old, Arabella came back to the studio for her next session in the Baby Plan – the milestone photography in Northern NJ . We were blown away at how big she had gotten, especially given that she was so tiny only eight months ago!

Once mom grabbed her out of her car seat, Arabella was radiating with smiles, soft laughter and playful babbling. She was adorable and still had the most beautiful skin we had ever seen. Her blue eyes  were striking. Wide-eyed and alert, she was. a real-life baby doll.

It honestly doesn’t get any better then this. Arabella was a natural in front of the camera; although, kept herself reserved with soft smiles and some piercing stares.

Mom outfitted Arabella in sweet outfits that came from abroad. Beautiful treasures that Alexis’ mom had brought back from her travels. The details, styles and soft hues were perfect.  Crisp, classic and impeccable.

The setups we chose kept consistent with the colors that were used in Arabella’s newborn session. Light pinks, whites and touches of green. We kept the backdrops relatively simple, only adding in touches of florals and white, ornate lanterns. We used our rustic wood backdrop to incorporate a natural feel and the floral romper mom chose from our closet, matched perfectly.

Needless to say, we had a great morning with this little doll and we cannot wait to have her back in a few months for her birthday session. And just a shoutout to Arabella for making our jobs so much fun and so easy!
